Kaihautu Whakamua

Wairoa College Prefects and the YROA YNOT crew participated in the Kaihautu Whakamua – Future Leaders programme. Core Consultants Ltd facilitators Debbie Goldingham and Derek Middleton delivered the programme to our youth.

The content of the course included;

  • Understanding of what leadership is.
  • Building and becoming an effective team
  • Developing your personal and leadership potential
  • How to be an effective speaker
  • Thriving and surviving as a school leader
  • Communication and conflict resolution

Throughout the course, many insights were gained on how our youth can improve themselves and strive for success.

A quality we thought lacked amongst our youth was being able to speak confidently in public. This workshop definitely stretched some of the groups comfort zones. At the end of the course, the group felt empowered to be the leader that they know they could be.
